I served as the organizer for this festival in 2006 and 2007 while working as the Education Director for the Ndakinna Education Center. Since the Center was a small not-for-profit, we all wore many hats. I also served as the print and web designer, handling most all of the public relations.
I am not involved with the 2009 festival (there was not a festival in 2008), however, I will be helping with the web site over the summer of 2009. I also handled the layout and design of the Program Guide and Festival Curriculum Guide (PDF document). Both publications were challenging cross-cultural design projects since the audience included non-Native American festival attendees as well as citizens of both Haudenosaunee and Algonquian nations.
The logo is custom - Mohawk artist Brad Bonaparte created the smoke dancer and I crafted the logo around it. It has become a recognizable brand, gracing t-shirts, caps, posters, keepsake patches and other merchandise in support of the festival.
